Part 4 to my Calc series

Fox News

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I (William) absolutely despise Fox News. It is an organization that I personally consider horrible for two reasons: One, it’s a news organization, and they’re quite annoying to begin with, two, Fox News uses the fact that it is news organization to to spread its propaganda and lies all around the United States. Now, the lying is bad enough, but I see it as more than that. I see it as a fundamental betrayal of the public trust. Even though plenty of people are aware that Fox News twists the truth, there are also mountains of people who rely on Fox News to get the information they need to be intelligent and informed people. So, when Fox twists the truth of a story to fit its agenda, it’s more than lying; it is denying people the right to be informed and educated citizens.

Anyway, here is a youtube channel that I feel does a great job of breaking the lies of Fox News.

Biology Bungling

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Watch this guy mangle biology. If you think it’s offensive, then too bad for you. Even as a christian, I find it hilarious.

Calculus series!

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Here’s a couple calculus videos that I made. They focus more on examples than rationale, and they might not follow standard teaching procedure, but I think they’re still pretty cool.

This is part 2:

This is Part 3.

In case you’re wondering, part one was a rickroll.

Bill and I plan to make more eventually, with me behind the math and him behind the camera.

Cell Songs are Fun

Friday, October 10th, 2008

So, in AP Biology, which is a total bitch by the way, we had to write these songs talking about cells. Anyways, me and my friend Kevin (project partner) are both Bob Dylan fans, so we made a song based off of one of his best songs. “The Times are a Changin’”. Kevin does alot of the singing, but you can hear my horrible voice in the back.

Welcome to NMSF!

Welcome to the first ever post of the Nerds Make Science Fun blog.
This blog is an attempt by a couple of nerds (us), to try to make
science more fun and interesting for people who currently find it dull
and uninteresting. We will reach our goal in several ways: creative
blog posts, exciting experiments, and interactiveness.

Now to get you interested again after that informational speech:

INVISIBLE SANDWICH

INVISIBLE SANDWICH

Anyways, back on topic. As of me typing this, our website is about 28
hours old. This blog idea came to us, (William and Tony by the way), after we got bored and decided to try out a couple of random projects. This one stuck; all the others were deemed too boring, too hard, or too expensive.

So, a little bit about us. I’m William, the guy who is currently writing this blog. I’m a sophomore in high school who enjoys chess, some math, science, and some politics. I am of Chinese descent. Due to my interest in the last subject, there may be an occasional post about some current
political happening.

And I’m Tony, a crazy math geek. Bill wrote everything you’re seeing except for this last paragraph. Anyway, I’m a sophomore and the kid of two crazy parents. I’m a math geek like you wouldn’t believe, and you might see some posts about math, theory, and of course, rants. I have a math series on YouTube. See my channel (pleasekillthetoy).

Later, we will be discussing new scientific happenings; sciences subjects, and give you experiments or projects you can try at home.
